Earthquake tremors again at technopark april 11th wednesday 2012

Earthquake tremors felt (again) by some people at technopark trivandrum. 🙂 wonder if its limited to technopark kazhakootam or felt anywhere else in trivandrum.

Seems like the epicenter is in indonesia. massive earthquake at 8.9 richter scale over there, so after effects felt across large areas for thousands of kilometers.

The effects felt on the eastern coast of india including cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Patna, Chennai, , Kochi, and Trivandrum

Techies are reporting feeling earthwquake tremors in bangalore, kolkota etc. Since techies are connected they report it first. Twitter was obviously first on the scene. Manorama , IBN news and NDTV have started reporting it a few minutes later.

People at Infopark Kochi situated at Kakkanad have also felt the quake tremors. Reports of the techies evacuating their buildings at infopark after feeling tremors.

Tsunami alert/tsunami warning  issued in trivandrum. Obviously this tsunami alert also applies for Technopark, so technopark companies have been asked to evacuate employees as a precautionary measure. The trivandrum tsunami alert issued expects any tsunami effects to start at 5.38 PM. Technopark is close to the coastal area so technopark tsunami alert has been issued too.

This is a precautionary measure however – the indian government has scaled down the threat perception. The chennai port however has been shut down and fishermen at sea have been radioed to come back.
