Bomb at technopark nila building – is it a drill, bomb scare or threat?

UPDATE: Seems it was just a scare. They found some suspicious bag unattended with some paper and bottle of oil or something(though asianetonline said it was “garbage” – can’t really trust them – they even got the image of the building wrong – the image used in their article was a picture of bhavani). Got the details from a friend who works there. Seems everyone’s gone back into the building – i guess with the kind of deadlines for the projects (no pun intended), the project managers must have threatened to dismantle the bombs themselves.:)Anyway no harm done, everything’s fine! – on a side note – what’s with Nila and bomb threats?

Kaumudionline says the building was evacuated after the bag was found at 10.30 , and the bomb squad was called.

It seems there is another bomb threat at technopark. People are saying it might be a bomb in Nila building in technopark. Seems people have been told to vacate the building. We asked a friend in there if its a security drill and he says he doesn’t think so

Pretty sure that the major media publications like mathrubhumi, manorama and kerala kaumudi will cover this bomb threat immediately, but seems like their online outlets haven’t updated with the information on the bomb threat. The TV might have some news, particularly the local channels but we don’t have access to that in the office.

There are various companies in Nila building in technopark including USTechnology, Suntec, Accentia, IBS and more. These are some of the big ones, and probably tons of smaller ones.

Nila is one of the oldest buildings in technopark, and it has been the place for an earlier bomb drill i described in an earlier post.

Whether its a bomb scare or threat or just a drill, remains to be seen. Last time it was a bomb drill by a security outfit by the government.

I checked the regular forum at mytechnopark.com and doesn’t seem to register any reports of a bomb scare or threat.

The fact that the software engineers in the Nila building have been evacuated seems to be true.

To be clear, its not sure yet whether an actual bomb was recovered in Technopark, or a bomb has gone off (like in the security drill from last year)

Nila seems to be the favorite for bomb drills, scares and threats and with the security agencies. The “nila bomb” might just become folklore.

Phone lines haven’t become jammed yet. Typically expect a phone call after news of a technopark bomb goes around.

Was watching web traffic for the news – tons of people seem to be searching for the bomb with respect to the company they work in , or know somebody who works in – bomb threat at IBS technopark seems to be the one with the most searches. Probably because its one of the biggest occupants in the nila building.
